A Sense of Freedom and Uncertainty

I am sitting at the airport as I am writing this. We have finally made it, our live is stored in a container. We have said goodbye to a lot of people many of them good friends. There was quite a bit of nostalgia. When you leave you realize that you have amazing people in your life.

Everything that’s left now is a new feeling of freedom that’s accompanied with uncertainty. This is not a normal vacation, we are not flying back after a few weeks and there is no salary coming into our accounts. But we can do whatever we can. We can take all the time we want to explore.

At our first destination, Ethiopia, we expect some very new experiences. The country has been described to us as relatively safe but as a person clearly not from there, we expect some hassle. Everyone sees an opportunity in the rich tourist. Which of corse we are, at least by comparison.

We booked our first hotel already, so we do know what to tell the taxi driver. From the description and pictures we found it seems to be a meeting point for backpackers and trans-Africa travelers. There we want to make our plan for our tour through Ethiopia. As soon as we know more I’ll give you an update.
