Everyone who has been in touch with us personally probably already knows that our first destination is Ethiopia. The African country has borders with Kenia, Somalia, Sudan, and Eritrea. Most of the border regions have been in unrest even though the Ethiopian Prime minister has currently received the Nobel prize for his efforts of making peace with Eritrea.

Nevertheless, the people of Ethiopia have been described as friendly and welcoming. The country has a very old Christian-orthodox tradition and nine UNESCO heritage sites. We are looking forward to experiencing this culture and tradition soon!

Meanwhile, we are still busy getting our things in order at home. Chis and I want to finish the first version of our dissertation before we leave. We have to take care of health insurance: We don’t want to pay for our insurance here in Germany but need a good one for our time abroad.

Our apartment is getting empty even though we are still here for a few more weeks. Furniture has been sold and boxes needed to be packed. Our good bye-Party is being planned, which is covered by ordering beer, and friends have been asked to help paint the walls and to move out.

For those asking, ‚Do you know where you will go after Ethiopia?‘, yes, we do! The next stop is Thailand and from there we will see. We have a rough plan to go to Australia and the Islands in the south-west Pacific. From there to South-America and move on to North-America. But up to now, we have nothing planned in detail. We’ll see how it goes!
